WHAT IS OFF RUNWAY?

Off Runway, A Community Affair, is the first event of its kind in Charleston, SC, created by local Owner, Designer and Creatrix of the slow, ethical fashion label Brooke Wilder Atelier, GinaMarie Roberts.  Imagined and inspired along with a budding collective of Charleston emerging designers, artists and makers, Off Runway came to life to offer a new kind of stage for collaboration, community, connection, conversation and a more abundant conscious economy.  We firmly believe as one succeeds, the whole expands and flourishes.

WHY OFF RUNWAY CHARLESTON?

Celebrating 10 years, Charleston Fashion Week (CFW) has grown in size, popularity, renown, and status not only in Charleston but across the South and in the Fashion Industry abroad.  The local community, business owners and government have all seen largely increased revenues generated due to CFW's continued success.  In other Fashion Cities such as New York, the success of Fashion Week has spread to hundreds of different shows, platforms, events and mediums during their week long industry events.  

Off Runway is our offering of another voice and another stage to enhance and expand a week which has been so beneficial to Charleston, the South and to emerging designers.  It is our goal to share this abundance with other artisans, makers and creatives.

THE MISSION

Off Runway believes in shared growth and abundance.  That growth starts by featuring local, Southern, small, start up, slow, ethical, emerging, sustainable, regenerative, repurposing, hand crafted, make to order, custom, innovative, designers, artisans and creatives.  And like our diverse community, fashion is more than apparel and accessories.  We believe fashion is an outward expression of a individuals unique essence, which is expressed in their Beauty, Home, and Families as well.  Not only will our stage feature original designs and collections, our Pop Up Creator's Bazaar will offer products in all the areas Fashion.  We have added in an Artisan's Workshop where guests can get hands on making experience allowing for a shared skills environment and offering the artisan's another space to meet new customers at the event.  The Off Runway Community Affair will be an immersive experience guests will eagerly anticipate, this year and years to come.

Off Runway is partnering and donating a portion of proceeds to local domestic violence shelter and advocate, Thrive SC. This past year I met the amazing Mackie Moore, Founder and Director of Thrive SC. THRIVE SC provides short-term and longer-stay transitional housing, cutting-edge services, and holistic resources for women and children survivors of domestic violence, from ALL income levels. THRIVE focuses not only on the immediate needs of safety, but also on the longer-term tools needed for a life of independence and empowerment. Mackie's mission, drive and vision align with our visions of empowerment, support and community. We are proud to be working with and supporting Thrive SC and their growing mission. Thrive will have a presence at the event as well as offering additional sponsor perks for participation in Off Runway.

THE DETE'S

Off Runway is a ticketed event with General Admission prices along with several levels of packaged event activities and extras to select from.  The Affair is a two day event, beginning each day at 1PM and ending at 9PM.  On site each day we will have a Pop Up Creator's Bazaar, a Fashion Stage, an Artisan's Workshop space, an immersive VIP Lounge & Experience, beverage providers, local Food Truck Vendors, music and more to be announced as we grow.  Our target vendor/designer entries is between 75-100 and we are anticipating approximately 400-800 guests in total over the two day event.
